Earl Grey Tea and All Your Favorite Snacks - A Taste of Home?

It was once said that the sun would never set on the British Empire, a phrase that had both a figurative and a literal meaning. Of course, the hope was that the Empire the island nation had established would endure the ages, and this is certainly woven into the fabric of the phrase, but also, it is a thing that can be taken quite literally. As the founders of the largest Empire in history, the British, with their massive colonial holdings, literally spanned the globe, so it could truly be said that at its peak, the sun was always shining on some part of the Queen's vast holdings.

It's an exciting story, the rise of Great Britain as a smallish, somewhat isolated island nation to the undisputed master of the high seas, and the Brits were blessed with both the strength of character as a People and with a succession of talented, effective rulers at just the right time in history to see them vault to a position of absolute global dominance, with the Union Jack literally striding the globe.

The days of Empire are gone now, but the Brits have retained both the character and the characteristics that made them great. They are a nation of bold, dauntless explorers, and can be found in good number in nearly every corner of the globe, even today.

But even a bold explorer needs a little taste of hearth and home now and again (Earl Grey, anyone?), and thankfully, the rise of the internet has made having reliable access to that taste easier than it has ever been in history. There are a number of websites specializing in, and catering to the specific tastes of the Brits. You can find teas (including that longstanding favorite, Earl Grey!), cakes, snacks, and other assorted goodies online. The same brands you could get in the little shop just down the road from your flat when you lived in England, and these are just a few mouse clicks away!

So if you're a British citizen living abroad temporarily, or an ExPat who finds himself longing for a taste of home, and assuming you've got internet access (you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't, so, safe assumption!), then all your favorite goodies from home are as near as your mouse and your computer monitor. A quick Google search will turn up any number of possibilities to you, and you can get them all delivered right to your door, wherever your door might be! Put a pot of Earl Grey tea on for me!
